The importance of strapping

Since the late 1990s, SORSA has been developing its own technology for the manufacture of polyester strapping, using exclusively recycled material from 100% plastic bottle waste. Today, it stands out as one of the largest production plants in southern Europe and one of the most sustainable, as it is powered by solar and hydroelectric energy.

The polyester straps manufactured by SORSA have as main applications the strapping of ceramics, wood and the unification of palletized loads, among other uses. In many cases, they can replace the traditional steel strapping, behaving in a similar way.

They are highly effective in companies in the metallurgical, iron and steel, wood, and packaging sectors, among others. Experience in these sectors guarantees the efficiency of polyester strapping and our manual and automatic systems.

SORSA offers the most complete range of sizes, lengths and coil formats. The strapping is manufactured in green color, with a standard coil inner diameter of 406 mm. Jumbo and SuperJumbo sizes are also available to increase productivity in the facilities prepared for it.

The main advantages of polyester strapping compared to traditional steel strapping are as follows:

- It absorbs greater shock force and has a better memory.
- It adapts better to packages, reducing their volume over time.
- It offers a greater amount of meters per reel, which requires fewer changes.
- It does not oxidize, thus avoiding leaving marks on the packaged product.
- In some cases, additional protections, such as corner protectors, can be dispensed with.
- It is easier to recycle.
- Strapping tools and machines are less expensive.
